I had the opportunity to attend Singapore Fashion Week this year and I was super excited. I’ve only experienced Fashion Week in NYC so I was curious to what the vibe was going to be like in Singapore. During my stay I was able to attend Blue Print, a trade show for East West Exchange in Asia. Emerging designers and established designers are allowed to showcase their current pieces for the Asian market in one big stop. They had designers from Korea, Hong Kong and Europe, to name a few, displaying beautiful pieces of jewelry to eccentric hats to wear to high tea. This is a great place for store owners and on-line entrepreneurs to find great new designers and new items for their inventory. I loved the vibe of the trade show filled with buyers, fashionistas and press who were all on the go checking out what the designers had in store for them. Pierre Balmain had a super hero t-shirt so I had to pick it up from Shopbop. I love t-shirts and this was a great find since it’s perfect for the hot weather in Malaysia. I’ve always been a fan of Pierre Balmain for it’s street edge and comfortable look. It was a perfect t-shirt to pair with my Zara faux leather skirt that I picked up this spring. Let me just tell you it was scorching hot that day and I felt as though I was literally melting in the middle of KLCC. Once we were outside I knew I had to go back inside KLCC where it’s always super cold from the full blast AC’s. But the cold air feels refreshing when it’s scorching hot outside. But after a few minutes in the AC, it starts to get chilly. Hence why it’s always smart to bring a pullover for the cold frigid air. It’s a constant battle of the climate from frigid ac to scorching hot weather here. I need coffee in my life, so during the weekend I always try to scour places in Malaysia that has great coffee. It was a hot scorching day in Malaysia and I needed my caffeine fix and as you can tell I’m quite enjoying my iced Americano. I was content for the day now that I had my fix and it was time for me to enjoy the sunny warm weather that Malaysia has to offer. It’s a far cry from the current weather in Malaysia, which is hazey due to the old farming techniques of burning the fields in Indonesia. If only I was able to rewind back to this day where I was able to enjoy the bright sun and crystal blue sky. Hence why my outfit is basically blue on blue as well as my YSL jewelry of Turquoise blue to normal blue. So, I was able to follow my friend to another shoot for a Malaysian Magazine called Glam. I was very excited for Aina since she will be in 2 publications for the month of March. Once we entered the studio for hair, make-up and accessories there were other personalities that were getting glammed up. I was drooling over all the shoes and clothes that were displayed and ready to be styled for all the girls. I fell in love with the Burberry studded coat and I just wanted to take the Celine shoes home with me. I had to really refrain myself from trying on all the cloths, shoes and accessories they prepared for all the girls. Can I say I just died when I saw the Celine reptile shoes and I was so happy that they were going to put Aina head to toe in Celine.
Yay! Congrats to Aina for getting a spread in Harper Bazaar Malaysia. She asked me if I was interested in coming with her to the shoot and I jumped at the chance. Who wouldn’t want to see the behind the scene action of what goes on during a fashion photo shoot for a major magazine. It was an exciting event for her and as well as for me… I even got to help style her outfit. I’ve always been fascinated with all the work that goes into all the beautiful magazine pages and here was my chance. As a friend I was so happy and proud of her that she was one of the lucky ladies to be featured in the Style and the City Segment. Let met just tell you, Aina was a pro when it came down to getting her photos taken. Not only did she look amazing but she was humble about her whole experience.
I was one unhappy camper when I attempted to check out a new restaurant for brunch. It was closed for Sunday! *haha* Can you tell by my expression, how unhappy I was? I was really craving some sort of american breakfast food and brunch is my all time favorite meal when I was living in Chicago. So I was really looking forward to checking out the place since it was a westernized restaurant that also serves bloody marys. Epic fail. Thank goodness it was Hubby to the rescue and we found a great Dim Sum place. The next best thing I enjoy for brunch is Dim Sum so back to a happy wife. However, I surprised myself by not getting my dress dirty during my meal. *woo hoo* If anyone knows me, some parts of my meal usually ends up in my hair or on my clothes by the time I’m finished eating. So you can imagine how surprised I was when I came out undamaged. Plus, I would have been heart broken if I got the Lovers + Friends dress dirty. Can I just tell you I love this dress! I found this great dress again at my friends store Moonvoyage! This dress had me at Hello when I found out it had pockets. I love dresses that has pockets hence why I had to get it. If only it came in other colors. I would definitely get a black one in a heartbeat. Hey… If anyone knows a place that sells this Lovers + Friends dress in black please let me know. =) (Dress: Lovers + Friends Jacket: Bar III Bag: Givenchy Large Pandora Sandals: Unknown Jewelry: Rings: Unknown Bracelet: Vintage & Vita Fede, Necklace: Ambush
So my favorite staple piece is anything that is black. When the hubby informed me that we had to attend a Christmas Party at his co-worker’s place I wore what I normally wear. Anything black!!!! I decided that I needed to add a hint of color to the outfit since it was a festive party and not a funeral so I used my jewelry and shoes to add some contrast. I’ve tried to add colors to my wardrobe but it’s a hard habit to kick.
