I had the honor of meeting the talented Jonathan Liang, a Malaysian Designer based out in France. I was excited that I was able to attend his afternoon tea event with Dude and Duchess and check out his collection with the brand. The spread was super cute with mini delectable sandwiches, desserts and yummy drinks served while people were shopping. I think I ate the majority of the little goodies that were displayed on the table, but it was just too good to pass up. This is the little piggy in me *haha*.
His clothes for the collection was absolutely stunning and simple. The clothes are minimal but chic with a strong sense of femininity. I fell in love with his black reptile black skirt but I was so sad when the skirt was sold out. Epic fail! However I was able to nab myself a beautiful navy blue classic satin shorts that will look good with everything. His pieces are great because they can be worn dressy or casual depending on how it’s worn. The low cut black structured dress was literally a piece of art draped on by one of the mannequins below.
His collection was similar to an art showcase if one was given the time to look around and observe everything displayed in the store. In the middle of the store stood a beautiful black wrap tank with an installation of camouflage insects cascading down as a skirt. I was so envious when Jonathan Liang told me he was also able to collaborate with an artist for all his art displays which coincided with all his amazing clothes.
Congrats Jonathan Liang on being the new director for Dude and Duchess ready to wear line! You deserve it =)
